Our story begins with Melanie Pearson Day, who was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago while pregnant with her third child. Despite her terminal illness, she gave birth to a healthy baby and continues to fight against the odds. Melanie believes that every day is a “bonus day”. This mentality has propelled her to live a full, joyful life filled with selfless service to others.

While Melanie explored the option of starting a nonprofit to expand her ability to help those in need, she soon realized that being a full-time part of a charity would take precious time from creating beautiful memories with her family. Cue Service Life. I have been blessed by Melanie’s warm kindness and am proud to continue her dream of forming a non-profit.

Every community contains a broad spectrum of needs. We, at Service Life, wanted to build an organization where volunteers could help discover needs, participate in purposeful service events, and lift others and themselves.  Thus, our mantra Observe, Serve, and Lift was born.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It is one of the beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping themselves.”

Thank you for visiting, and we hope you join us in accomplishing our vision!
